On Friday, 15-APR, we drove to Dickinson, TX, for a belated happy birthday party for Kayleigh. She was 2 years old on Thursday, 14-APR. When we arrived, Logan and Kayleigh started playing with their riding toys in the cul-de-sac. Kayleigh was really impressive on her bike (tricycle).
Logan did a great job with his F-150 truck. He even picked up a rider - Levi - a neighborhood kid.
After playing and getting hot, it was time for a quick dip in the nice cool pool.
On Friday evening Rosie and Logan made Rice Krispy Easter Eggs. Here they are working in the kitchen.
The finished product looked really neat (and tasted delicious!). Say "cheese".
We had "eggs" for breakfast on Saturday and Sunday. Logan and Kayleigh ate the last two eggs on Monday morning.
I enjoyed reading to the kids. They really liked a book called, Overboard. They both knew exactly when to say, "overboard!", and they said it with gusto.
On Saturday we (and many other folks) went to Froberg Farms to pick strawberries. Due to the weather, the strawberries weren't as good this year as last year. In fact this was the last weekend of picking. Picking typically lasts until early June, but this year the weather cut it short. Rosie and Kayleigh are heading to the field.

Kayleigh was our official taste tester. She did a lot of "in the field" testing.
Here we are heading back to the barn to weigh-in our strawberries.
Of course at the barn we had to get some of their delicious fried pies. But bummer, no peaches and cream fried pies today. We'll have to come back before we leave for HSV!
On Sunday afternoon we had Kayleigh's birthday party. In addition to the Flachmans and us, neighbors, Phil, Hope and Angela joined us for the party. Kayleigh is ready to blow out the candles. The cake is strawberry with cream cheese icing; it was delicious!
Kayleigh's sure there's another present in the bag.
Shane was doing a significant "make over" of the backyard patio area. Here he is working on the sandbox he made for the kids. They'll really enjoy this.
On Monday morning we headed back to Froberg Farms to get some strawberries to take back to HSV. While we were there, we took time to play on the swings and get pictures made in the strawberry cut-outs. Logan and Karen are having fun on the swing.

Importantly, we not only got strawberries to take back, but we also got some peaches and cream fried pies. Yeah - what great timing.

On Wednesday, 13-APR, Jay and Gwyn Slough - special friends from our time in Cincinnati - came to HSV for a brief visit. Jay was having his 50th high school reunion on Friday and Saturday in Memphis, TN. Since we're "just down the road", they came on to HSV for a visit.
On Thursday morning we headed to Hot Springs. Our first stop was the Fordyce Bath House and a self-guided tour of the facilities. Here's Jay & Gywn at the fountain in the men's bathing area.
Next we went to the 3rd floor to see the sitting rooms (separate sides for men and women). Here we are viewing all the sites.
From the Fordyce we headed to the Gangster Museum which has relocated to Central Avenue across from the bath houses. The Museum gives a great history of the gangster activity in Hot Springs. Jay enjoyed picking up the "Tommy Gun" that was available near the sitting likeness of Al Capone. Jay looks ready for action. Little did we know that he's actually shot one from the deck of a ship!
For lunch we took them to the Shack in Jesseville. Where else? We enjoyed burgers, catfish, fried green beans, sweet potato fries and a peanut butter/hot fudge milk shake.
In the afternoon, Rosie planned card making for Gwyn and HSV friends Judy Parker and Ellie Hubert. Here are the three working on their cards. Left to right: Judy, Ellie and Gwyn.

While the card making was in progress, Jay and I drove around the Village. I showed him some of the more exciting sites. As you can expect, this didn't take too long.
Jay and Gwyn left Friday morning for their upcoming meetings in Memphis. It was great to get to see Jay and Gwyn. Thanks for the visit and hope you can come again!
On Friday, 08-APR, I went fishing in the afternoon on Lake Sophia which is very near our house. I caught a lot of small bass and some of reasonable size (10+"). However, I wasn't expecting to catch the one I'm holding below. He's 19.5" or about 4.6 lbs (using length to weight conversion tables). He was fun to catch.
On Monday, I'll be fishing with the HSV Anglers Club on Lake Cortez. I hope I can catch one as big as this guy on Monday.
