Ashley's Wedding Shower / 03-JUL

Ashley and Doug are planning to get married on December 10th in Columbus, OH. While the family was in town for the Adams reunion, the women decided it was a great time to give Ashley a family bridal shower. Ashley's Mom, Anne Kulju, also drove down from Columbus (along with her husband, Bill) to attend the shower. It was great to have Anne here and for her to meet some of the extended family.

Anne, Ashley and Rosie pose in front of the table. Looking Good - of course I'm talking about the cupcakes on the table!
Ashley and Rosie are having a laugh about something; Rosie is probably sharing some embarrassing moments from Doug's childhood.Karen, Savannah and Ashley enjoy the shower.Jennifer and Amy got to have a little "adult time" without kids.Becky, Julia and Marylynn enjoyed getting together with the women.Welcome to the family, Ashley. We hope the combination of the family reunion and shower didn't scare you off. We think you're great!

Adams Family Reunion / 02-JULY-2011

On Saturday, 02-JUL, 55 adults and children gathered at the Family Farm near Glennwood, AR, for the James L. Adams and Robert H. Adams family reunion. It was a fun-filled day with lots of activities, eating and visiting. Here are the five direct descendants of James and Bobby Adams:From the left: Gayle Walthall, Rosie Callicott, Jim Adams, Cathy Burson, Julia Stonecipher.

Amy got a great picture of the entire gang. Smile everyone!
Here's a picture of the "Callicott clan" (current and future) who attended the reunion:left to right: Karen Flachman, Logan Flachman, Bob Callicott, Rosie Callicott, Kayleigh Flachman, Lottie Callicott, Amy Callicott, Adam Callicott, Doug Callicott, Ashley Kulju (Doug's fiancee).

The Family Farm - run by Stan and Donna May - was a great place to hold the reunion. There were alot of activities for kids and adults. The zip line was a favorite of all age groups. Here's Lottie finishing her ride down.
Adam also enjoyed his trip down the zip line.Logan is all smiles.
The adults also got their turn on the zip line. Amy, Ashley and Doug had fun rides. The carousel was also enjoyed by the young and not-so-young. Adam and Logan are the carousel daredevils.Gram and Kayleigh enjoyed the "wind in their hair" as they rode the carousel.
The Family Farm also had a John Deere train. Except for the driver, the train was for kids only - bummer!Next came the paddle-boats. Kayleigh enjoyed her ride with Doug and Ashley. Wave to the crowd. Here go the three musketeers (or should that be three pirates?) - Blayne, Adam and Will - for a trip around the lake.Karen and John took Logan and Lottie for a spin on the lake. After the paddle-boats it was time to jump into the canoes. Lottie has her paddle ready. Here I am taking Adam, Lottie and Logan for a canoe ride. Luckily they didn't know my level of canoe skills!Keith Beckhan was in charge of fishing at the Family Farm fishing pond (a non-paying job with great fringe benefits - seeing kids catch fish). Charlie was focused on catching a fish.Focus paid off - Charlie caught a nice catfish. Way to go, Charlie! The Family Farm also had a petting zoo. Adam enjoyed holding one of the cats.We all enjoyed a dinner of hamburgers and hotdogs (and all the trimmings) prepared by the famous chefs, Dave Stonecipher and Doug Callicott. Here they are hard at work:After dinner we had a family sharing time complete with singing. Doug and Bob accompanied the singing on guitars. After the sharing time, it was getting dark and time for the hayride. The final event of the day was fireworks. What a great way to end a fun day! Thanks to everyone for coming and helping and especially to Stan and Donna May at the Family Farm!

The Callicotts Arrive, Bible School, Fishing and a Lost Tooth!

Logan and Kayleigh attended Bible school at Mountainside Methodist Church the week of June 27th. Both Logan and Kayleigh enjoyed working with markers. On Friday afternoon, 01-JUL, Amy, Adam and Lottie arrived at HSV for the Adams Family Reunion on Saturday. Saturday morning, we took a break to walk over to Lake Sophia and fish. Rosie is showing Adam a small bream she caught.Nani knows the best way to "beat the heat" - she takes a swim in the lake. Most of the kids and several of us adults enjoyed throwing rocks into the lake. The fine art of "rock skipping" was being perfected. After the walk back home, several of us "beat the heat" by eating frozen popsicles. They were cold and tasty!Adam arrived with his first loose tooth. Thanks to a little help from Gram (i.e. yanking on the tooth), the tooth came out. Here's Adam with his bottom tooth missing. FYI - the "tooth fairy" was very nice to Adam; he got a dinosaur and money. On Friday night, Adam and Lottie went to Bible school with Logan and Kayleigh. All four of the kids got to participate in the Sunday morning program. Lottie, Kayleigh and Logan are singing and doing their motions. Adam was on the other side of the stage with the older kids.Next up is the Adams Family Reunion on Saturday, 02-JUL.

Fishing With The Flachmans on Lake Sophia

Karen, Logan and Kayleigh arrived in Little Rock on Sunday morning, 26-JUN. Rosie and I met them at the airport and brought them to HSV. Sunday afternoon we decided it was a great time to go fishing. We drove down to our neighbor's, Jerry and Linda Wass, dock and fished for bream. We used crickets for bait.

Logan and Kayleigh are ready for a fish to bite their cricket.Logan and Gram (aka Rosie) are pulling in a fish. Wow - look at that pole bend!Logan is holding up his prize catch.Even Karen got into the act. Here she is with her fish. Great job, Karen! While we were fishing on the Wass' dock, two fawns walked into their back yard. Here's one of the fawns. He's watching us fish.

Trout Fishing On the Little Red River

On Saturday, June 18th, Rosie and I drove to Heber Springs, AR, with Delma and Wayne Jensen and Delmadge Pharr (Delma's dad). Heber Springs is near Greers Ferry Lake which is created by a dam on the Little Red River. Below the dam the river water is cold (56F max according to Rosie who reads ALL the information) and a good place to trout fish. Trout had been released into the river the day before, so we arrived at a great time to trout fish.

We parked at a spot next to the river and also near the Trout Fish Hatchery. While Delmadge, Wayne and I were fishing, Delma and Rosie went for a walk around the area. However, let's get to the good part first - the FISHING.

Delmadge has two poles in the water and is ready. He caught several trout and had a good day of fishing. He's holding one fish and you can see two others on the stringer in the water. As you can tell, our trout weren't huge.
This was my first time to fish for trout. We basically used a Carolina bass fishing rig but with a smaller hook and trout bait (I think our bait was called Power Bait; the color was yellow). I caught my limit of 5 in a little over an hour. None were really big but they were fun to catch. After her walk, Delma enjoyed relaxing with her I-Phone while Wayne fished. The river was beautiful and there were quite a few fishermen/women trying their luck with the trout.Rosie also got a picture of a great blue heron that flew up and down the river several times. After I finished fishing, Rosie and I walked over to the Trout Hatchery and the small stream that ran through the park. Here are some pictures of the stream. The flowing water was pretty and noisy with all the small waterfalls. Here's Rosie enjoying the stream. After we all finished fishing, we packed up our gear and drove to Cafe Klaser, a local restaurant for lunch. Wayne and Delma had been here before and recommended it. The food was excellent and there was a great view out the back. Here are four of us (me, Delmadge, Delma and Wayne) stretching after lunch. After lunch we drove back to the Village to conclude a fun day. Thanks, Delma and Wayne, for planning our trip to Heber Springs, AR. We had a great time!
